No work, No pay: Telkom

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) is planning to march to Telkom offices on 28 October 2014 to hand over a memorandum to the company.

Telkom has informed employees that the CWU march is only planned for the Pretoria region. However, Telkom said that it might spill over into Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and North West regions.

Telkom highlighted that attendance registers will be kept for the day and the absence of any employee, due to participation in the march, will result in a “No work, No pay” ruling.

The company added that no leave should be authorised for employees for 28 October, unless prior arrangements were made well in advance.

Telkom urged its management staff to prepare for the march, asking them to put contingency plans in place to mitigate any mass absence.

The operator also warned employees that all company vehicles will be tracked, and that unauthorised trips will be dealt with in terms of the disciplinary procedure.
