MTN-Afrihost deal approved

Afrihost has announced that its deal with MTN has been approved by both the Competition Commission and the Commission Tribunal.
“This marks the continuation of the successful collaboration between the two companies in providing industry-leading DSL, mobile data, and web hosting services to Afrihost’s clients,” the ISP said.
Afrihost is known in the broadband space as a market innovator and price disruptor, having won the MyBroadband ISP of the Year award four years in a row, and CEO Gian Visser having won consecutive awards as the IT Personality of the Year.
Afrihost expects its partnership with MTN to bring more opportunities to its clients by leveraging MTN’s investment in broadband and other technologies.
“We want to assure all our clients that nothing will change at Afrihost, operationally. Our management and systems will remain in place and Afrihost will continue to play the innovative role our clients expect in the industry,” said Visser.
“We’ll just have a big brother behind us to make sure we have all the resources we need to delight our clients at every opportunity”.
Afrihost moved its DSL services to the MTN network in October 2012.
In June 2014, MTN announced its intention to acquire 50% plus one share of Afrihost, which was then brought before the Competition Commission for approval.
