IT salaries in South Africa: what people earn

Quest has released its Salary Survey and Staffing Trends 2014/15 report, which provides an overview of the average, minimum, and maximum salaries in South Africa.

Quest explained that the research was conducted in June 2014 via an online questionnaire, which was designed to be quick and easy for respondents to complete.

The report depicts the median salary level for each job as well as the minimum (the lowest 10% of responses received) and maximum (the highest 10% of responses received) salary levels.

“The survey allows South African businesses of all sizes the opportunity to compare salaries across several experience levels in all nine provinces, at no cost to themselves,” Quest explained.

Information Technology salaries

The report found that engineers and analysts earn the highest salaries in the IT and telecoms fields once they have five years or more experience.

The research further showed that IT professionals in Gauteng earn higher salaries than their counterparts in other provinces.

The following tables provide an overview of the IT salaries in South Africa. The full salary report is available here: Quest salary report
