Google CEO salary revealed
Eric Schmidt got 245,322 dollars (US) in compensation in 2009 as compared to slightly more than a half-million dollars the previous year, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Schmidt along with Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin voluntarily limit their annual pay to a dollar each, letting their fortunes ride on the value and performance of the Internet giant’s stock.
Google paid 233,542 dollars in security expenses for Schmidt last year and 10,119 dollars in costs related to chartered company flights on which he family or friends flew, according to the filing.
Schmidt’s trimmed compensation came as the company known for largesse regarding its workers cut costs to bolster profits during dismal global economic conditions.
Google chief financial officer Patrick Pichette, who guided the firm’s profit-boosting course, received about 25 million dollars in compensation in 2009, according to the filing.
Schmidt, Brin, and Page remain billionaires based on the value of Google stock, which finished the trading day Monday slightly above 562 dollars per share.
Schmidt owns more than 9.3 million shares of Google stock, or about 12.7 percent of the company, the filing indicated. Brin was reported to own about 28.5 million shares and Page to be holding 29 million shares of stock.
