Telkom may trim management
The latest speculation to hit the rumour mill is that Telkom is planning to reduce the number of management staff. According to one source Telkom managers will be offered voluntary severance packages towards the end of April.
While the exact details about the number of potential retrenchments is uncertain, it is speculated that Telkom is planning to reduce its management by around one third – equating to roughly 700 employees.
This retrenchment is rumored to form part of Telkom’s plan to increase it’s EBITDA levels by around R2-billion within the next two to three years in an attempt to become more efficient in all areas of business.
Telkom would not confirm or deny these rumors, merely saying that the company “consistently investigates all its options with regard to improving efficiencies and increasing EBITDA levels”.
