Some Vodacom staff members have been offered voluntary retrenchment packages, also known as mutual separation agreements (MSA). However, Vodacom made it clear that there is no staff retrenchment programme underway.
MyBroadband received the information from Vodacom staff members who were offered 3 months’ salary and their pension if they agreed to resign.
According to one source, he was told this offer was confidential and that he has 2 days to decide whether he will take the offer.
He added this seems to be happening at multiple regional Vodacom offices around the country.
Vodacom told MyBroadband it does not have a staff retrenchment programme underway.
However, the company did say that as part of the normal course of business it continually looks at how it is structured and how efficiencies can be achieved.
“This is not unique to Vodacom, and will from time to time result in changes in specific roles,” said Vodacom.
