IT salaries in South Africa – how much money people really earn

The latest CareerJunction Index report shows a big increase in hiring activity in the South African IT and telecommunications markets.
According to the report, the demand for IT professionals has increased by 13% since the start of 2015. This increase in hiring activity bodes well for jobseekers in the field.
A growth in demand is typically accompanied by an increase in salaries, and this is exactly what was seen in South Africa.
According to the CareerJunction report, a comparison of salaries over the last 12 months shows a consistent increase.
IT salaries in South Africa
To establish the average salaries of IT professionals, we looked at five sources: three 2015 SA IT salary surveys, and the salaries advertised on the CareerJunction and Careers24 websites.
This data was then used to calculate the average entry-level, mid-level, and senior-level salaries of various IT professions.
The average salaries in this article are the gross basic monthly salary, and exclude bonuses and other perks.
The salary scales below also do not include management positions – they are the salaries of people working as IT professionals and not executives managing these areas.
It should further be noted these salary scales do not indicate the lowest and highest salaries, but rather averages.
