How much money South Africa’s top telecoms companies and ISPs make

Telkom recently released its annual report for the year ended 31 March 2015, which included a section on the estimated South African revenues of major ICT companies in 2014.

The revenue figures are based on annual corporate reports, and formed part of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa’s inquiry into the State of Competition in October 2014.

According to the report, the South African ICT sector generates revenues of approximately R240 billion a year, with telecoms by far the largest contributor at 61 percent.

The report showed that Vodacom South Africa had the highest revenue at R62 billion, followed by MTN South Africa at R39 billion, and Telkom at R33 billion.

Internet Solutions was ranked as the top ISP with revenue of R3 billion, followed by Vox Telecom at R1.6 billion, and MWEB at R1.2 billion.
