Afrihost was started in mid-August 2000 by Gian Visser, Brendan Armstrong, and Peter Meintjes, while Greg Payne joined the company in 2005 as a director.
Since its beginnings a small hosting provider run from Visser’s mother’s home, the company has grown to become one of South Africa’s largest Internet service providers.
In June 2014, Afrihost sold 50% plus 1 share of the company to MTN – in an effort to increase its resources for expansion.
