Brand Finance has published its third annual study of the Top 50 corporate brands in the country, which showed that MTN is the country’s most valuable brand.
The Brand Finance 50 Most Valuable Brands survey for 2015 valued brands based on a number of factors, such as emotional connection, and financial performance and sustainability.
According to the survey, MTN is the most valuable brand, followed by Vodacom and Sasol. However, MTN is facing challenges.
The report said the MTN brand lost a little strength in the latest survey, and is now on par with Vodacom.
“Perhaps due to its World Cup sponsorship fading and Vodacom’s consistent out-spending of its rival on advertising, the playing field is starting to level,” the report said.
“That said, both companies’ advertising spend has reduced by almost a half over recent years. A measure of the tough times in the telecoms sector.”
