Vodacom is the largest telecommunications operator in South Africa, with more subscribers and higher revenues in the country than MTN and Telkom.
The company has shown excellent growth since it started its first mobile operations in SA in June 1994.
Alan Knott-Craig led the company from its launch until 2008, after which his right-hand man Pieter Uys took the reins.
Uys oversaw the company’s continued strong performance, and handed the position to Shameel Joosub in September 2012.
Joosub is a Vodacom veteran, who joined the company in March 1994 and held many positions at the operator before becoming CEO.
Vodacom continues its strong performance, despite numerous challenges in the telecommunications market.
Vodacom’s leaders, who are partly to thank for the continued growth, have been rewarded well for their efforts.
The infographic below shows the annual pay packages of Vodacom CEOs after Alan Knott-Craig stepped down.
