Richest South African IT execs revealed
The Sunday Times has published its annual Rich List, revealing the top 225 richest people in South Africa.
According to the Rich List, the 20 richest people in South Africa grew their collective wealth in the past year by more than 13% – from R256 billion in 2014 to R294 billion in 2015.
Christo Wiese, who is a large shareholder in Brait, Shoprite, and Steinhoff, topped the list with a publicly-disclosed investment wealth of R105 billion.
He is followed by Glencore’s Ivan Glasenberg with R25 billion, and Intu Properties’ John Whittaker on R23 billion.
Former Naspers CEO Koos Bekker was the top IT shareholder at R10 billion, followed by another Naspers shareholder Stephan Pacak on R2 billion.
