Post Office workers face fraud charges

Free State Hawks spokesman Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said former Post Office worker Paulus Molebatsi, 41, appeared in the Botshabelo  Magistrate Court on charges that he stole R22,000 between April and  May 2009.

It was alleged that Molebatsi made false entries in the financial register enabling him to take the money. The case was postponed to October 6 for him to organise legal representation.

Meanwhile a 35-year-old Heidedal woman, Nicolette Vorster, appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on fraud charges.

She was arrested for allegedly pocketing more than R40,000 received from customers. It involves money which post office customers meant to deposit between September and October 2008.

Police said Vorster was also accused of making false entries in the post office financial registers. Her case was postponed to October 6 for her to get legal representation.
