CareerJunction’s latest CJI report shows that labour demand has declined in the IT and telecommunications industries over the last few months.
While this is bad news for jobseekers, the right IT and telecommunications skills are still in high demand in South Africa.
Programmers and Software Developers, for example, are being hired. This is especially true for programmers with dNet and or C# skills.
IT professionals with sough-after skills can also continue to demand high salaries, even in a depressed economy.
IT professionals who can demand the highest salaries
Sylvia Thomaides, operations director at Tricruit Recruitment Specialists, said the highest salaries are offered to IT professionals with skills in mobile technology.
“The IT professionals who are currently getting the highest salaries are mobile application developers, who are well versed with Java development tools,” said Thomaides.
Odile Badenhorst, Communications Manager at CareerJunction, said Technical and Business Architecture professionals are currently offered the highest salaries.
The salary for skilled professionals in this field ranges between R46,083 and R56,477 per month. “Senior professionals in this field can earn up to R58,659 per month CTC,” said Badenhorst.
