Uber for moving stuff
A new company in South Africa called MovethisStuff, an Uber for moving goods globally, aims to become the number one platform to move stuff for households and businesses.
“We eliminate the stress of moving stuff by providing comparative quotes online in minutes from reputable and verified movers nationwide,” said MovethisStuff.
“You simply tell us what you need moved, where you are moving to, and when you want it moved.”
Once the job has been completed, companies and clients are able to rate their experience. Customers and companies are also able to view past ratings and reviews.
The company was founded in 2015 by Percy Lawrence (CTO), Michaela Hogan (CEO), and Paule Welgemoed.
MovethisStuff received R350,000 for winning second prize in the #HackJozi competition last year, which helped fund the business.
“We have bootstrapped the company to date, and are now looking to raise a round of capital which will enable us to scale and grow faster,” said Hogan.
She said they will launch their mobile app soon, and take MovethisStuff into the rest of Africa.
