Career Junction has released its CJI report for October 2016, which details which job skills are in high demand in South Africa.
The index represents online labour dynamics in South Africa by providing a “detailed analysis of the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market”.
“The CJI is based on comprehensive data gathered from the Career Junction website,” said the company.
The October index showed slightly-improved employment prospects for job-seekers, following a “lengthy decreasing trend in demand within the construction, distribution, and retail sectors”.
Good news for IT, bad news for telecoms
The index stated that software development remains the most sought-after skill set on Career Junction.
“The IT industry has seen a growth in job postings of nearly 30% comparing current demand levels with vacancy levels during the first half of 2016.”
Telecoms did not fare as well.
Since July 2016, hiring activity has slowed down within the telecoms sector – with a steep decline in vacancy levels during this period.
