The latest CareerJunction Index report shows there was a solid hiring environment in the South African IT sector in 2016.
According to the report, job advertising within the IT industry has experienced sizable growth since the beginning of the year.
The higher recruitment activity translated into a growth in salaries in the local IT industry, especially in fields with scarce skills.
Software developers remain at the forefront of market demand, with .Net or C# skills sought-after.
With the increases in IT salaries, those within the industry want to know how their pay fares.
We looked at multiple sources – three 2016 SA IT salary surveys and the salaries advertised on CareerJunction – to create a list of comprehensive salary scales.
The data was used to calculate average entry-level, mid-level, and senior-level salaries of various IT professions.
The average salaries in this article are gross basic monthly salaries, excluding bonuses and perks.
The salary scales below also do not include management positions – they are the salaries of people working as IT professionals, not executives.
It must be noted the salary scales do not indicate the lowest and highest salaries – only averages in each band.
