Lyft donates $1 million to ACLU

Lyft co-founders Logan Green and John Zimmer are donating $1,000,000 over the next four years to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to “defend our constitution”.

The ACLU is a national organisation that works in courts, legislatures, and communities to defend rights guaranteed by the US constitution.

This follows President Donald Trump closing the country’s borders to refugees, immigrants, and documented residents from certain countries.

“Banning people of a particular faith or creed, race or identity, sexuality or ethnicity, from entering the US is antithetical to both Lyft’s and our nation’s core values,” it said.

The Lyft founders said Trump’s decision impacts many of their community members, families, and friends.

“We ask that you continue to be there for each other – and together, continue proving the power of community.”
