The gifts which Vodacom and MTN gave to members of parliament

Parliament’s Joint Committee On Ethics And Members’ Interests has released its Register of Members’ Financial Interests for the past financial year.

The purpose of the register is to provide information about financial interests which a member of parliament has, or any benefit which he or she received.

This is done to make information public and provides oversight on factors which may influence an MP’s actions or words.

As part of the register, members of parliament disclosed gifts and benefits they received from companies.

Vodacom and MTN feature prominently in the register, providing MPs with tickets to events and free phones.

The table below shows the gifts, hospitality, and benefits which MPs received from the mobile operators.
