Vodacom executive director of regional operations Vuyani Jarana is said to be the leading candidate to become SAA CEO, Bloomberg reported.
Bloomberg stated that SAA is searching for an executive from the private sector to fill the position, and Jarana’s name came up as the candidate of choice among board members.
The report stated that SAA chairperson Dudu Myeni is said to prefer a different candidate, while Jarana did not provide comment on the situation.
Vodacom has stated that Jarana has not been offered a job by SAA, however, and is focused on his work at Vodacom.
SAA losses for the past two months totalled R734 million, following losses of R4.8 billion in the 2016/17 financial year.
