MTN has attracted two of Telkom’s top networking and mobile executives – former Telkom Mobile Managing Executive Amith Maharaj, and Telkom network architecture executive Zoltan Miklos.
Maharaj joined MTN’s Enterprise division on 1 April 2017, while Miklos took the position of GM for Engineering at MTN this week.
Both Maharaj and Miklos have extensive experience in the telecommunications and cellular market in South Africa.
Prior to joining Telkom, Maharaj was part of the start-up team that successfully launched Vodacom Business.
He also served as the executive for mobile technical solutions at Vodacom, a start-up function which was created when Vodacom introduced high speed data services to the market.
Miklos started his career at Telkom as an engineer and briefly moved to Vodacom in 2007 as a senior specialist before joining Telkom Mobile as a senior manager in 2008.
He served in various executive positions at Telkom before taking the lead at MTN’s engineering department this month.
Maharaj and Miklos joined other high-profile executives who have moved to MTN from Telkom over the last year.
Former Telkom chief marketing officer Enzo Scarcella joined MTN SA as its chief operating officer in December 2016.
Last month Telkom’s group executive for communication, Jacqui O’Sullivan, resigned, and will join MTN on 1 October.
