Oracle lays off staff across Solaris and SPARC teams

Oracle has made hundreds of layoffs across two of its divisions, according to a report from The Register.

The divisions are Solaris and SPARC.

Solaris is an enterprise operating system developed by Oracle, and the SPARC team is responsible for developing processor architecture and other hardware.

Threads on anonymous message board The Layoff point to large staff reductions being made, with the retrenchments communicated to employees on Friday.

It is unclear how SPARC and Solaris developments will be affected by the layoffs.
