Digital maps save South Africans billions each year – Google
Research by AlphaBeta shows that digital mapping services save South African consumers billions every year, while bringing in billions for business.
Google said the research into mapping services also revealed that South Africans save around 100 million hours per year thanks to efficient purchasing decisions based on the information online services display.
This amounts to R5 billion based on local wage rates, and the total annual benefits consumers get from digital maps is worth around R50 billion.
Businesses also benefit, with the report stating they have supported around R456 billion in sales for local companies. This is thanks to services providing facts such as store hours, contact information, and reviews.
The AlphaBeta report is based on research conducted to measure the global economic impact of geospatial services.
