Apple has acquired PowerbyProxi, a spin-out company from Auckland University, reported Stuff.
PowerbyProxi was founded in 2007 and has focused on developing wireless charging and power-transfer products.
This includes wireless control systems, wireless sensors, robotics, and wireless battery charging.
The company employs 55 staff, and holds over 300 patents relating to wireless charging.
Neither Apple nor PowerbyProxi disclosed the deal’s value.
