Internet Service Provider Afrihost has offered to purchase the entire share capital of Axxess DSL (Pty) Ltd (Axxess). The transaction should be concluded early August 2011.
“This deal will ensure that the businesses have greater scale in a highly competitive environment and will enable a more compelling offering to the respective client bases. Afrihost and Axxess will continue to operate as separate brands, but ensure greater efficiency by ultimately operating on merged platforms,” Afrihost said.
Greg Payne, Director at Afrihost, says that the two companies have very similar cultures and their approach to client service excellence is what drives the respective businesses. “Combining two entities like this makes the sum more valuable than the individual parts,” said Payne.
Andrew Simpson, MD of Axxess says that this was an easy decision to make. “The synergies between Axxess and Afrihost are numerous, but what is more exciting for us, is what both companies can potentially achieve together.”
“We embrace this opportunity and we look forward to some very exciting times in the future,” Simpson concluded.
It is understood that all the Axxess staff and management will keep their positions, and that it will be business as usual at the PE based ISP.
