GENBAND establishes South African presence

GENBAND, a global developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today (25 August 2011) announced the establishment of a regional sales headquarters for the sub-Saharan African region in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the appointment of Srini Moodley to Vice President of Sales, Africa.

Moodley leads the Johannesburg operations with responsibility for sales across all sub-Saharan African countries, reporting directly to Pat Dolan, GENBAND’s Senior Vice President of Sales over Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

“Srini’s broad experience leading business development in diverse and challenging markets will prove valuable as we continue to expand our business in these fast growth African markets,” said Pablo Gargiulo, President of Global Sales at GENBAND. “His appointment reaffirms our commitment to this strategic region, facilitating IP communications solutions that enable reliable, advanced multimedia services for end users across sub-Saharan Africa. The selection of Johannesburg for our regional sales headquarters will allow us to best serve Africa’s largest telecom market and the entire burgeoning region.”

GENBAND’s Johannesburg facility will be home to a sub-Saharan sales team and demonstration center, which will showcase the range of IP communications solutions suited for the African markets.

Moodley brings to the GENBAND team over 25 years of experience in international product sales, strategic account management, and product and project management. Prior to joining GENBAND, he was Client Director at Cisco SA, where he led the team responsible for Africa’s largest integrated communications company, Telkom, based in South Africa. During his tenure with Cisco, he had an impressive track record growing the Service Provider business year over year with the major carriers in the region.

“We have a significant opportunity to support the African telecom industry’s transition to IP communications,” said Moodley. “I am very pleased to join the GENBAND team in working with service providers, governments and large enterprises to transform their networks across the region. We look forward to establishing a state-of-the-art operation here in Johannesburg.”
