South African job portal CareerJunction released their CareerJunction Index (CJI) report for March 2012, revealing that the demand for IT jobs has been growing steadily over the last six months.
According to the report there was a slight decrease in IT job ad volumes from February to March 2012, but despite this decrease the demand for the right IT skills has been growing steadily over the last 6 months.
The CJI report further showed that job ad volumes are considerably higher now compared to this time last year.
Software developers are in high demand, with a particular shortage of suitably qualified and experienced programmers. When it comes to programming languages .Net and Java are the most popular.
However, job ad volumes within the telecommunication industry remain lower compared to mid-2011 volumes, which means that telecoms professionals may have a hard time in finding employment due to a current oversupply of labour.
There was however some good news for telecoms professionals – job ad volumes within the Telecommunication industry has picked up steadily since January 2012.
