93 Amazon jobs in South Africa

Tech giants Amazon, Google, and Microsoft are currently hiring for 95 positions in South Africa.

MyBroadband perused the three firms’ official recruitment portals to see what jobs they had on offer for locals in December 2024.

At the time of publication, Google and Microsoft had just one job each available in the country.

Google is currently looking for a public affairs manager, while Microsoft is seeking a senior compliance technology specialist. Both of these positions are based in Johannesburg.

As has been the case throughout 2024, Amazon has dozens of open positions in South Africa.

The company has the biggest local presence out of the three firms.

Amazon used a team in Cape Town headed by Chris Pinkham to build Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), a key component of its market-leading Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud products.

AWS has continued operating a physical presence in Cape Town for over two decades. Most of the jobs offered by the company were based in the Mother City.

Amazon also launched its South African e-commerce marketplace Amazon.co.za in May 2024, which boosted its local recruitment requirements.

However, the majority of roles continue to be at its AWS division, which makes sense considering this division is responsible for the bulk of the company’s profits.

MyBroadband compiled a list of Amazon jobs in South Africa that are in tech or tech-related disciplines.

Thirty of the positions were in operations, IT, support, and engineering, and another 18 were in software development.

Another eight positions were in four more tech or tech-adjacent fields, including Machine Learning and Solutions Architecture.

Aside from the tech positions, Amazon is also offering jobs in marketing, human resources, sales, and advertising, as well as in stock buying, planning, and management.
