Naspers profit surges by R102 billion

Naspers has released its results for the year ended 31 March 2025, reporting strong group revenue and profit growth.

Revenue generated during the financial year grew by 20% from $6.4 billion (R116.5 billion) as of 31 March 2024, to $7.2 billion (R130.1 billion) as of 31 March 2025.

This resulted from its e-commerce business’s strong performance during the period.

“For the 12 months to 31 March 2025, e-commerce consolidated revenue grew 12% (21%) to $7 billion (R126.5 billion), in line with our goal,” Naspers said.

“The strong results in e-commerce, combined with Tencent’s performance, resulted in core headline earnings, our measure of after-tax operating performance, increasing by 46% to $3.1 billion (R56 billion).”

The group swung from an operating loss of $562 million (R10.2 billion) as of March 2024 to an operating profit of $124 million (R2.2 billion) as of March 2025.

“This is due to greater profitability from the group’s consolidated business and reduced impairment losses from continuing operations in the current year,” it said.

At the same time, its net profit of $12.3 billion (R222.3 billion) reported for the period is 86% higher than the $6.6 billion (R120.2 billion) net profit it reported for the same period last year.

“E-commerce adjusted EBITDA improved meaningfully from $350 million (R6.4 billion) in FY24 to $697 million (R12.6 billion) as increased focus on profitability positively impacted results,” said Naspers.

According to Naspers and Prosus Group CFO, Nico Marais, the group’s topline growth is double the rate of its peers.

“E-commerce profitability has improved meaningfully from $24 million (R437 million) in FY24, to aEBIT of $430 million (R7.8 billion) in FY25,” said Marais.

“As our financial position strengthens, we’re able to share more with our shareholders, and have proposed a 100% increase in the Prosus dividend, to €0.20 (R4.16).”

According to Naspers and Prosus Group CEO, Fabricio Bloisi, the company is rapidly transforming into an operating technology firm, focused on lifestyle e-commerce, and powered by innovation and collaboration.

“I believe that truly great companies are shaped by their culture,” said Bloisi.

“Through ‘The Prosus Way’, we’ve implemented a cultural model that empowers our teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences through discipline, innovation, and adopting an AI-first mindset.”

The CEO is confident that Naspers’ culture and ecosystem approach will drive it to create the next $100 billion in value.
