Biggest IT exec salaries in South Africa

The 2012 South African Business Times Rich List was released on Sunday 12 September 2012, revealing that MTN executives were the best paid in the local ICT industry.

The Business Times Rich List used publically available information about JSE-listed companies to establish which executives received the best overall pay package for the last financial year.

According to the list, BHP Billiton’s Michael Yeager received a total pay package of R115 million in 2011, the best salary in South Africa. Massmart’s Grant Pattison was second with R90 million, and BHP Billiton CEO Marius Kloppers third with R89 million.

The top earning IT executive was MTN’s Khumo Shuenyane with R57 million, followed by former MTN CEO Phuthuma Nhleko with R50 million.
