Top IT skills in South Africa

ActiveTechPros released their latest IT Salary and Skills Report recently, revealing that people skilled in application development and “consulting and business services” are the best paid IT professionals in South Africa.
The latest report, which is published annually, compiled a set of salary data based on aggregated data from 179 South African IT professionals from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2012.
According to the report, IT professionals skilled in enterprise applications, application development and consulting and business services have an average annual salary exceeding R400,000.
The most prevalent skill among local IT professionals was “desktops and software”, which unsurprisingly also meant that these users earned less than people with more sought after skills.
The following table provides an overview of the top IT skills in South Africa and the salaries associated with these skills.
