MTN, Telkom Mobile deal to boost 4G data

MTN say that the planned Telkom Mobile infrastructure sharing deal will enable it to create a 4G data network at the lowest cost possible.

Speaking to analysts in a conference call on 24 April 2014, the group said that it expects the agreement with Telkom to be concluded within 3 to 4 months.

MTN also said that it expects the network sharing deal with Telkom Mobile to provide it with significant financial benefits in the form of CAPEX avoidance.

In the longer term, MTN said, the deal with help the operator to create a 4G data network at the lowest possible cost.
