Vodacom 79c prepaid promo

Vodacom Ball

A promotional prepaid price plan from Vodacom which offers a 79c per minute call rate is set to become available at 00:01 on 1 May 2014.

This new deal from Vodacom confirms reports that the network would cut rates to respond to a similar promotion launched by MTN.

MTN later made its promotion a permanent prepaid rate plan.

For the moment, Vodacom’s 79c per minute prepaid price plan is set to run until 14 July 2014, and is subject to a specific set of terms and conditions.

The core features of the promotion are as follows:

  • Local call rate (any network, any time): R0.79 per minute (billed per second)
  • SMS: R0.50
  • SMS to Telkom landlines: R0.90
  • MMS (300KB or less): R0.80 per MMS
  • International SMS: R1.74/SMS all day

The price plan is not available to Contract, Top Up, Community Service, CST Management SIMs.

Vodacom prepaid subscribers on legacy price plans such as 4U, All Day per Second, All Day per Minute, Per Second Plus, Day Saver, and Vodago who change to Prepaid 79c will not be able to return to their previous price plans.

As one might expect, roaming calls, premium rated calls, SVS Calls, international calls, VAS calls, and fax out calls do not qualify for the 79c per minute rate.

On this price plan you also can’t make use of Power Hour, Chat for 20, Power Bundles, My5, Night Shift or Everyday Extra, according to the T&C’s.

Vodacom subscribers on Prepaid 79c can continue to earn Talking Points when recharging R10 or more, which Vodacom said can be redeemed for Talking Points for airtime bundles, call discounts, cellphones, or MMS, SMS and Data Bundles.

When the promotion ends on 14 July 2014 at 23:59, you will be returned to your last price plan prior to the Free Change onto Prepaid 79c.

According to Vodacom, you can “Free Change” into or out of this price plan at any time via Vodacom’s 1181 IVR, *111# USSD, and Vodacom.co.za channels.
