1c to 2c per MB needed for LTE: Cell C CEO

For LTE to be a viable option for consumers, the price for data should be at 1c or 2c per MB. This is according to Cell C CEO, Jose dos Santos.

Dos Santos explained that, the faster the speeds of data, the faster a user will burn through the data allocations that they receive.

“Making the price per MB lower will allow customers to use more data, without feeling the pinch,” said dos Santos.

To achieve the lower rates, dos Santos suggests a shared infrastructure model bring down capital expenditure for companies.

This model, he said, will make it more viable to provide broadband at high-speeds at the right price point for customers.
