Afrihost says that it has resolved authentication issues with its mobile data network which affected users on Saturday morning,19 July 2014.
The issue also impacted its DSL subscribers.
“Our engineers report that we are now seeing normal authentication and both mobile and DSL services should be performing as expected,” Afrihost said.
The ISP noted, however, that mobile clients still experiencing problems should turn off their MiFi or put their mobile device into airplane mode for 30-60 seconds and then reconnect.
“For DSL users, please reboot your router if you have not yet authenticated normally. Our engineers will continue to monitor the issue throughout the day. We sincerely thank affected clients for their patience during the outage,” it said.
Numerous users of Afrihost’s Mobile Data service reported extended down time on Saturday morning, which according to Afrihost was due to authentication issues on the MTN mobile network..
“This means that affected clients are unable to get online or are only able to do so after numerous attempts,” the ISP said.
Users reported being unable to connect in regions across South Africa, from Cape Town, to Jeffery’s Bay and the East Rand and Centurion.
