MTN LTE now on pre-paid

MTN prepaid LTE

MTN pre-paid users now have access to the operator’s Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, the company announced on Monday, 11 August 2014.

To use MTN’s LTE network, it said that subscribers should ensure they have a device that supports LTE, and the correct SIM.

At least a 128k SIM is required, MTN said, adding that these SIMs are identifiable by the 3G or LTE branding on the back of the card.

Subscribers must also ensure that the LTE service has been loaded and is active on their accounts by phoning either the pre-paid (173) or contract call centre (808).

According to MTN, LTE offers “everything you’re already doing via mobile internet, just much, much faster”:

  • Download apps almost instantly
  • Download a song in 4 seconds
  • Download movies in minutes
  • Upload a photo in 6 seconds
  • Enjoy crisper, clearer streaming video
