Telkom Mobile cracks 2 million subscribers
Telkom has unveiled its financial results for the six months ended 30 September 2014, which show that its active mobile subscriber base increased 26.7% to 2,024,495 over the past year.
The company’s mobile operations now has 1,595,130 pre-paid subscribers, and 429,365 post-paid subscribers.
It also increased the blended average revenue per user (ARPU) of its active mobile subscribers by 22.4% to R71.99, up from R58.81 a year ago.
Telkom’s mobile voice and subscriber revenue increased 54.7% to R348 million, up from R225 million in September 2013.
This growth can be attributed to an increase in the number of active mobile subscribers, and the increase in blended ARPU, Telkom said.
Telkom also said that it did well on the mobile data front. “In line with our strategy to focus on data, we offered attractive data deals which led to an increase in data subscribers and a 39.3% increase in mobile data revenue to R422 million,” Telkom said.
