Cell C-Facebook deal to be revealed soon

Cell C is finalising a deal with Facebook and will announce the details in the coming months, according to CEO Jose Dos Santos.
News of the pending deal comes seven months after Cell C introduced a promotion which offers free WhatsApp text and multimedia messaging to contract and top-up subscribers, as well as some prepaid customers.
Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014.
Dos Santos did not reveal any further details about Cell C’s deal with Facebook, except that he had hoped to announce it along with the R10,000 Contract Buy-Out offer the operator recently launched.
The announcement of the deal with Facebook is due to happen at a later stage.
Industry speculation is that Cell C wants to introduce zero-rated Facebook access, meaning subscribers would not have to pay for data used on Facebook.
A spokesperson for Cell C said they are excited about the deal, but could not say more at this stage.
