MTN has rolled out network infrastructure to the Sandton, Rosebank, and Park underground Gautrain stations.

The roll-out comes on the back of Vodacom’s recent statement that it has signed a coverage deal with the Department of Roads and Transport, the Gautrain Management Agency, Bombela Concession Company, and the Strategic Partners Group.

Under the terms of agreement, the networks would implement a communication solution to ensure the stations no longer have coverage dead zones.

Commuters using the Gautrain will have access to seamless voice and data services following MTN’s installation of a high-speed network.

MTN said its solution will launch on 3 July at the three underground Gautrain stations. Other stations will be covered by existing infrastructure.

The operator also announced that it will be deploy its network to blanket other parts of the Gautrain network.
