What Vodacom subscribers really pay for a voice call
Vodacom recently gave its quarterly update for the three months ended 30 June 2015, reporting that its blended effective price per minute for voice calls was 58 cents.
This is down from 68c the year before. In its annual financial results, Vodacom reported that the blended price of voice calls for the year ended March 2015 was 65c per minute.
It calculates this average rate for voice calls by dividing its total voice revenue by the total number of minutes used on the network.
The average effective price per megabyte of data on Vodacom also decreased 9.1%, the company said.
Voice traffic grew by 4.9%, while data traffic grew 45.7%, leading to customer service revenue growth of 2.6% to R10.3 billion.
Together, the voice and data traffic growth offset the reductions in its blended voice and data prices, said Vodacom.
