Android Eclair upgrade for Samsung Galaxy Spica
Samsung Mobile announced via their blog today that the update to Android 2.1 “Eclair” has been approved by network operators and is available for the Samsung Galaxy Spica I5700.
The Galaxy Spica is being upgraded from Android 1.5 “Cupcake” to Android 2.1 “Eclair.”
According to Samsung the update isn’t available over the air (OTA) and owners of the handset will have to go to a Samsung-approved service centre. A list of service centres is available on the blog or by calling 0860-726-786.
Samsung Mobile says “efforts are currently being made for an end-user solution.”
HTC Hero owners have also been promised an upgrade to Eclair by local distributor Leaf, but the HTC distributor has told a customer that they are trying to arrange for a firmware upgrade that handset owners will be able to download and do themselves.
