Prepaid vs contract: how much South Africans spend on mobile networks

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) South Africa and Effective Measure recently conducted a flash poll, collecting feedback from 5,760 South Africans on their mobile phone habits.

Of the individuals surveyed, 40% were contract subscribers, while 60% were on prepaid.

Users were asked how much they spend on cellular services per month, and the IAB and Effective Measure compared responses from contract subscribers to those on prepaid.

Of those who said they spend less than R200 per month, only 10% were on contract.

At the upper end of the scale, contract subscribers made up 76% of those who said they spend over R800 per month.

The infographic below summarises the findings of the poll.
