This is what it takes to stop South African criminals from stealing batteries
The scourge of battery theft and base station vandalism costs mobile operators millions of rand each year – which is why Poynting Antennas developed the MagiCube.
The MagiCube is a concrete enclosure, strong enough to stop criminals from getting in to steal the batteries it stores.
The design considers cable access, weather protection, heat dissipation, and protection against theft and vandalism.
It is compact enough to be retrofitted to existing base stations, with its construction allowing it to be fitted outside of the main container.
By fitting the MagiCube outside the container, it discourages vandals and thieves from breaking into the equipment container and damaging the expensive radio systems fitted inside.
The MagiCube is being delivered to over 50 high-risk base stations in South Africa, with plans to increase the speed and volume of new installations over the next year.
