MyBroadband War Drive: how Vodacom, MTN, and Cell C got better

MyBroadband recently conducted mobile broadband tests around Gauteng’s main business and residential areas between Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Vodacom came out tops in the average speed test results, but lost on its home turf to Telkom and Cell C.

Indoor coverage was not tested.

Stationary tests: 2015 vs 2016

To perform a comparison between the results of our war drive in 2015 and 2016, we split the results of our stationary tests from those conducted while driving on the highway.

The results show that Cell C and Vodacom showed significant improvements between 2015 and 2016.

MTN and Telkom showed slight declines in average speeds. However, MTN had far fewer failures.
