MTN Traveller launched
MTN launched its ‘MTN Traveller’ service yesterday, an online mobile booking engine providing accommodation, car rental and, in the near future, airline booking services.
MTN Traveller enables consumers to search, select and pay for their travel selections using their cell phone on all mobile networks. MTN Traveller operates through a secure, ‘real time’ payment gateway.
Fraser Gregg, managing director of MobiRes, MTN’s commercial and development partner on MTN Traveller, has coined the phrase ‘hospitality in a handset’ to describe the service.
“Basically, the URL is a user-friendly, dedicated and dynamic live search and reservation engine that can be accessed anywhere, at anytime and on any network. We have centralised the data from numerous channels and integrated it into a fully-interactive booking engine.”
“For the launch, we have signed up a wide range of hotel groups and accommodation partners, and Avis has come on board as our exclusive car rental partner for the trial period. The service goes live to the public on 07 November.
“We are also currently in discussion with various airlines and other hospitality partners and expect to announce exciting new developments and additional product features in the months to come,” states Gregg.
