iPad Micro Sim solution

Apple launched their new iPhone 4 and iPads this year, improving and extending their touch screen range of mobile devices.

Unlike the previous versions of the iPhone, the new iPhone 4 and the iPad require a Micro Sim to connect to a cellular network.

Although Micro Sims are available in South Africa, the process of activating these new Sims is not straightforward. In many cases the only way to get an activated Micro Sim is to port its number to an existing active normal Sim. It was previously reported in August that Vodacom had confirmed that micro-SIMs are available from Vodashops for R105 to set up as a Twin Call SIM, or R62.99 for a SIM swap.

Sim card management company Flickswitch has now launched a service where they deliver an activated Micro Sim card ready to use in an iPhone 4 or iPad 3G for R50 (details here).

Flickswitch MD Kees Snijders explains that all their Micro Sims are RICA’ed and fully active when it reaches clients, and that they can then easily load data on these Sims through the Flickswitch Sim management system.

Flickswitch currently only offers Vodacom Micro Sims.
