MTN slashes data prices
MTN has cut its contract data prices, reducing subscription fees to below the levels they were before its price hike in May last year.
Following a battle with ICASA over termination rates, Cell C, MTN, and Vodacom increased their contract prices in 2015.
Last year’s price increases were unusual, even more so because existing contract subscribers saw their fees increase mid-contract.
MTN’s reduced prices on its My MTNChoice data packages are available to new and existing subscribers.
The table below summarises the new contract data prices.
| MTNChoice data contracts | New prices | May 2015 prices |
|---|---|---|
| My MTNChoice 500MB | R39 | R55 |
| My MTNChoice 1GB | R79 | R85 |
| My MTNChoice 2GB | R99 | R139 |
| My MTNChoice 3GB | R169 | R209 |
| My MTNChoice 5GB | R199 | R309 |
| My MTNChoice 10GB | R299 | R519 |
| My MTNChoice 20GB | R499 | R1,045 |
| Each package includes an allocation of Night Express data. | ||
