When you can get free Vodacom minutes for dropped calls

Vodacom’s latest TV advertisement promotes its quality network, and promises subscribers that “if your call is dropped, we’ll give you free minutes guaranteed”.

Vodacom said its “Dropped Call Compensation” campaign is aimed at supporting its claim of having “the best network with the fewest dropped calls”.

As part of the initiative, Vodacom customers will receive a voice bundle in minutes equal to the number of dropped voice calls experienced on the Vodacom network (Vodacom-to-Vodacom).

According to its Dropped Call Compensation Terms and Conditions, a dropped call is defined as:

A dropped call is a call using the Vodacom GSM Network with a conversation time of more than 0 seconds which, is terminated abnormally, due to network technical reasons, without either the caller or the called party ending the call normally. The drop can occur on either the caller or the called party.

Vodacom said it “may as a result of you experiencing a dropped call, at its discretion and within its defined parameters of a dropped call, allocate you (the caller) a bundle of minute/s for calls from your Vodacom number to another Vodacom customer”.

This bundle will be valid from the time of allocation until 23:59:59 the following day.

These minutes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for other bearer services or money.

Although not in its terms and conditions, Vodacom told MyBroadband that there is a daily cap of 10 free minutes per day.

“Vodacom does not by way of this dropped call compensation accept any liability for dropped calls and will not entertain any claims in respect of any bundle(s) issued,” said Vodacom.
