Vodacom extends 4G+ coverage on the Gautrain
Vodacom has extended its 4G+ coverage along Gautrain routes, the network announced.
Vodacom said 4G and 4G+ coverage is available on route to the Gautrain’s Rosebank, Sandton, Marlboro, and Midrand stations, with speeds of in excess of 100Mbps – even in underground tunnels.
“The next phase of the project will be to enhance coverage along the track between Marlboro and OR Tambo International Airport as well as between Marlboro and Pretoria,” said Vodacom.
To provide underground coverage at the stations, Vodacom used distributed antenna systems – which are connected via fibre to network equipment located in Rosebank.
The company said it has spent R17 billion over the past two years to improve its network infrastructure.
