How Vodacom and MTN upped their game
MyBroadband recently conducted its latest War Drive, measuring the performance of the major mobile networks’ data services.
We tested the download and upload speeds of the networks at main business and residential areas around Gauteng.
Four Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphones were used for the tests, along with the Ookla speed test app – downloaded from the Google Play Store.
Tests were conducted across the four networks simultaneously, in both stationary and moving tests.
War Drive results
Vodacom took first place in both the stationary and drive tests, achieving the highest average download speed in both cases.
Vodacom also took the most “top 10” spots for fastest individual download speeds in both sets of tests.
The tables below show how the networks have improved their performance compared to the previous War Drive tests.
